It can fucking suck it.
We got some pretty major hail yesterday and I regret to inform Oppo there were two causalities at the house of Akio. Due to me having too damn many more cars than I can store covered, the Renegade and the Land Rover received the full brunt of nature’s fury apathy .
I have not personally observed the carnage on the Jeep, but am assured the metal parts of the mostly fiberglass roof were damaged as was the hood. No word from George what he plans to do about it.
The Land Rover initially looked like it fared better, but today in the dry I was assured it had not. The hood took the brunt of the damage, with a few dings on portions of the doors as well. Oddly I can’t see any damage to the roof, but I’m unsure if that is because of the terribad paint or because the roof is steel and the hood aluminium.
I am unlikely to make an insurance claim on it, but I might. I’ve got a lead on a new, undamaged hood in the right color nearby. Hopefully it still exists and is actually in good condition. The roof and doors I’ll play be ear but likely just ignore.
I also pulled the trigger on a 2nd storage unit (I know... I know...) and managed to get it at a substantial discount because the floor leaks. That should at least save the Disco from further damage.

Oof that sucks, Disco roofs are pretty stout so if anything the dings will be barely noticeable . Hopefully the hood search is successful.

I have stories about Oklahoma hail. It can be quite scary. I was fortunate that I never had a vehicle destroyed by it, but my mom’s Lumina was fairly beat up during a hail storm. That same storm killed her favorite tree and resulted in her house needing a new roof and siding.

I was wrecked by unusual hail almost 2 years ago in NM, Geico paid me full add em up retail for my Azera (which paid the remaining 900 note on it) for 5300, and let me keep it for around 600 bucks. Was going to keep driving the black golf ball until I stumbled upon my scratchy but mechanically loved Lexus. Kiddos will have a shot at using the Azera soon, and I took care of it well. Paying the $150 im used to for the Lexus, and have me a backup paid vehicle (and pocketed about three grand) . Also got a new roof from the hail from State Farm!
Thats why we pay the premiums we do, right?

Yeah I’ll take a hard look at the Disco’s roof before I decide about making a claim. Do not want a branded title on this car in case I ever try and sell it. The house roof will get an inspection after all the weather has buggered off. No sense in paying for one now with spring just getting started...

We get hail here, too. I’m glad (I think) we have concrete roof shingles, so far no damage there. A few years ago, hail is what got me to give up on the Miata. I got a great deal on body panels from a guy that was parting out another Miata, all the body panels were perfect, so I replaced my worn out stuff with shiny happy parts. I did the work on a Saturday, left for a work trip on Sunday, and my wife called me on Monday that it hailed. Every panel had serious hail damage. I wish I would’ve driven to the airport instead, being a work trip, I would’ve parked in covered parking.

Damn, that’s awful. We had a hailstorm here five months after I bought my Mazda6 brand new. I hid it under a gas station awning next door to work and saved myself the trouble of an insurance claim.
I’m glad you and your family are okay, though. Some parts of OK got hit pretty hard with tornadoes.

I recall an anecdote from my days working at Hardee’s (long, long, long ago) about a storm when someone literally broke/fell through the glass door trying desperately to get out of some severe hail.

I got caught in a short but horrible spell of hail a few years back. It pummeled my poor Mazda and cost over $3k in damage. You have my deepest sympathies.

Yeah but honestly surprised it hasn’t happened before now. Got the 2nd unit for a song and if this hood is as good as they say it is I’ll only be out $220 for the repair.
